Traction control & anti-lag.

Two AdminTuning custom strategies for ECUTEK, both adjustable from your phone: motorsport-style traction control that keeps the power down, and anti-lag launch control that leaves the line already in boost — from a roll or from a stop.

Set both from your phone

Both strategies live in the ECUTEK app, right next to your maps. Change them before a pull, for a wet day or for the strip.

  1. Open the ECUTEK app connected to your car.
  2. Go to Custom inputs.
  3. Slide Adjustable Traction Control and Antilag Setting to how much you want each one to step in.

Not your factory traction control

OEM Nissan TCS

Shuts the throttle — and keeps it shut

The factory system jams the throttles closed and doesn't let them open again for a very long time. It's always way too intrusive, interferes with everything and really slows you down.

AdminTuning custom TC

Takes power out, puts it back in

A motorsport-style torque reduction strategy. It uses ignition timing primarily to cut power fast, then restores it as soon as the wheel slip ratio comes back down to normal.

When slip reaches the target for peak grip, it zeros out and applies no torque reduction at all — the car makes full boost and full torque.

What the logs show

The demo car makes average power on bald tires, with aftermarket suspension built for a low stance and handling — camber, toe and geometry that aren't great for straight-line grip. Exactly the kind of car that spins.

10%+

Wheel slip in 2nd gear at about 12 psi of boost — the custom map starts pulling power right there.

16.1%

Wheel slip on the 2–3 shift — the strategy pulls out even more power.

<1%

Once traction is back, no torque reduction: correct boost and full torque.

3–4%

On the most aggressive setting it already steps in at 3–4% slip, cutting and restoring power in quick pulses until slip drops to about 1% around 6,000 rpm in 3rd.

Dial it in — don't kill it. Too much torque reduction and the car is dead hooked but underpowered, running slower than it should. The right setting depends on your car and the surface you'll most likely be on. With the settings maxed in the demo, the car hazed the tires a little in 2nd and was fully hooked in 3rd — maximum forward grip you'd never get from the OEM Nissan system. Our own pick: let it haze the tires a little.

Anti-lag & launch control · turbo VQ

Leave the line in boost

On a turbo car, the slowest part of a launch is waiting for the turbos to spool. Our anti-lag builds boost before you go, so the car leaves already making it — and it doesn't only work from a roll. It works from a stop as well, on manual and automatic turbocharged VQs.

From a roll

Rolling anti-lag

Hold boost while you're rolling, then hit it — the car pulls in boost instead of waiting for spool. Rolling anti-lag is included with our turbocharged VQ37 ECUTEK tunes.

From a stop

Launch control in boost

Build boost on the button while the car is stopped, then release and launch already in boost — on a manual or an automatic. You set how aggressive the launch strategy is.

How to launch

  1. In the ECUTEK app, open Custom inputs and set the Antilag Setting — from Light to Max, how aggressive you want the launch strategy.
  2. Turn the cruise control on.
  3. Floor the gas pedal.Automatic: hold the foot brake, like in the video.
  4. Mash and hold CANCEL — the car builds boost on the button.
  5. Release to launch — already in boost.
Better together. Anti-lag gets the car off the line in boost; custom traction control then manages wheel slip as the power comes in. Set one with the other in the same Custom inputs screen.
Built for how you use the car. Aggressive exhaust effects, anti-lag and control overrides can increase heat and component stress, so we configure them for your car's intended use — and the Light-to-Max setting lets you go easier when you don't need it all. Use launch control where it's safe and legal, like the track or the strip.

Questions

Which cars can get custom traction control?

2009+ 3.7L VQ37 cars tuned with ECUTEK: 370Z, G37 / Q40, Q50 & Q60 3.7 and M37 / Q70. It isn't available for the 3.5L VQ35.

Does traction control work on automatic cars?

Yes. It works on manual and automatic cars.

Is traction control for naturally aspirated or boosted cars?

Both. The strategy is set up for naturally aspirated and forced induction cars.

Do I need to be an AdminTuning client for traction control?

The add-on is for current AdminTuning ECUTEK clients. Tuned by someone else? Add custom traction control as an option when you order a new AdminTuning ECUTEK tune.

Does the anti-lag work from a stop?

Yes. It doesn't only work from a roll: with launch control you build boost while stopped and launch the car already in boost.

Which cars can use anti-lag and launch control?

Turbocharged VQ cars on our ECUTEK tunes, manual or automatic. Rolling anti-lag is included with our turbocharged VQ37 ECUTEK tunes, and our R35 GT-R tune has one-touch rolling anti-lag and custom launch strategies.

How do I launch with anti-lag?

Set the Antilag Setting in the app's Custom inputs, turn the cruise control on, floor the gas pedal (automatics: hold the foot brake), mash and hold CANCEL to build boost, then release to launch already in boost.

How do I change the settings?

In the ECUTEK app: Custom inputs. Slide Adjustable Traction Control from No TCS to Max TCS, and Antilag Setting from Light Antilag to Max Antilag, whenever you like.
